Displaying product reviews on Google Shopping feed (updated)

This guide explains how to integrate Rivyo Product Reviews with your Google merchant account to display review ratings on the Google Shopping page.


Google’s Requirements

Google has strict guidelines regarding the integration of reviews into Google Shopping, including specific requirements for the process. In order to sync your reviews with the Google Shopping feed, it is essential to meet the following criteria:


1. You need to have more than 50 reviews

2. Sync all reviews, even those with lower ratings

3. Ensure that the reviews adhere to copyright regulations, avoid offensive content, and refrain from being spammy


All approved reviews will be included in the XML feed. It's important to note that if only higher ratings (4-star to 5-star) reviews are approved and lower rating reviews are hidden, Google may reject the feed. Therefore, it is advised to approve all reviews and ratings.


For Google’s complete policy, please refer to their official documentation. Additionally, it should be noted that Google will conduct a manual review of your XML file submission and reserves the right to reject the integration based on its individual discretion.


Applying

  1. Log in to your Google Merchant Center account. If you don’t have an account yet, you can sign up directly from here.
  2. Apply for the product reviews feed integration by completing Google’s Product Ratings Interest Form.
  3. Kindly complete the form as depicted in the screenshot below and provide the remaining information based on your store details and then submit the form.


Step 1 : Navigate to Rivyo Product Reviews >> Settings >> Google Shopping

Step 2 : To ensure Google accurately identifies and attaches reviews to the correct product, select the GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) for each product. For enhanced accuracy, you can also include the MPN (Manufacturer Part Number). Learn more about product identifiers here.


Step 3 : If you're using Shopify’s Google Shopping app, you need to select a prefix for the product to make the integration work. Choose the prefix based on your store’s country code.

Step 4 : Now you can download the XML file by using the button located in the top right corner to manually sync the reviews. Alternatively, you can enable automatic synchronization and copy the link below to facilitate the automatic synchronization of reviews from Rivyo product reviews to your GMC account.

Important Note: Automatic Sync feature is accessible solely with the Enterprise Plan of our app.


Connecting Product Reviews to Your Google Merchant Center (GMC) Account

Now, proceed to your GMC account and locate the “Reviews” option in the Merchant Center menu. Select "Product Reviews" tab and then click on "Product review data sources".

Next, click on the button "Add Product Reviews".

Upon doing so, you will be presented with 3 options to add product reviews. You can choose the first option, "Enter a link to your file", and input the automatic sync URL if you have enabled automatic synchronization.

Alternatively, you can manually add the XML file that you downloaded in the previous step.

And click on the "Continue" button. Now Google will start syncing the reviews, this might take some time depending on the number of reviews you have in your store.
